In the 120-year history of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a Pakistani woman has been elected as president for the first time. On the global stage, Ayla Majid has achieved this unique honor. In the ACCA elections, Ayla Majid, a Pakistani, South Asian woman, was chosen as the president.
Ayla Majid will lead ACCA’s over 25,500 members across 180 countries and guide the future of its more than 56,000 aspiring members. She has been elected at a time when ACCA has surpassed the significant milestone of having over a quarter million members. Ayla Majid stated that in the coming months, she intends to focus on topics such as the future of accounting, strategic perspectives, and stakeholder engagement.
Hailing from Rawalpindi, Ayla Majeed is actively working on issues related to sustainable futures, climate change, and its impacts and benefits. She is also recognized globally as a leader on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Energy Transition.
She completed her early education in Rawalpindi, followed by pre-engineering and pre-medical studies at Federal Government College. She then graduated with a focus on economics, physics, and mathematics. After earning an MBA from Lahore University of Modern Sciences, she completed the ACCA qualification and also studied law at the University of London.
