In the upcoming 2024 elections, a total of 1981 candidates are vying for 22 general seats in the National Assembly across 7 districts of Karachi. Notably, 38 former legislators from the provincial capital are actively participating, aiming to secure victory in the electoral race.
Among these former lawmakers are two senators, attempting to transition from the upper house to the lower house for the 22 seats of the National Assembly in Karachi.
Here’s a snapshot of key contests in various constituencies:
- NA 229: Former MNA of People’s Party Jam Abdul Kareem Bajar will compete with Qadir Bakhsh of PML-N.
- NA 230: A tough contest is expected between former MNA Syed Rafiullah and PML-N’s Haji Muzaffar Ali Shajra.
- NA 231: A tight contest between former MNA Abdul Hakeem Baloch and Captain (retd) Jameel Ahmed Khan. Jameel Ahmed Khan, who won the 2018 election from the same constituency on a PTI ticket, is now the nominated candidate of the Muslim League-N.
- NA 232: Tough competition is expected between MQM Pakistan’s Asia Ishaq, JUP (Imam Noorani Group) candidate Muhammad Owais Siddiqui and independent candidate Adeel Ahmed. Siddiqui also has the support of the PML-N and the People’s Party.
- NA 233: MQM-Pakistan’s former MPA JavedHanif Khan will face People’s Party’s Nada Asim, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Abdul Jameel Khan, Mahajir Qaumi Movement’s Syed Rafiuddin and Muslim League-N’s Zain ul Abedin Ansari.
- NA 234: Muhammad Moin Ameer Pirzada of MQM Pakistan, Abdul Sattar of TLP and independent candidate Faheem Khan are in the electoral fray.
- NA 235: Tough competition is expected between Muhammad Iqbal Khan of MQM, Muhammad Asif Khan of People’s Party, Miraj Ul Huda Siddiqui of Jamaat-e-Islami and independent candidate Saif ur Rehman.
- NA 236: MQM Pakistan’s Hasan Sabir, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Muhammad Usama Razi Khan and PTI-backed independent candidate Muhammad Alamgir Khan will be in the fray.
- NA 237: There will be a tough competition between Abdul Rauf Siddiqui of MQM Pakistan, AsadAlamNiazi of PPP, Rehan Qaiser Sheikh of Muslim League (N) and independent candidate Zahoor uddin Mehsud.
- NA 238: Sadiq Iftikhar of MQM Pakistan, Mahmood Maulvi of IPP and independent candidates Mahmood Khan and Haleem Adil Shaikh are contesting.
- NA 239: PPP’s Nabil Gabol, TLP’s SharjeelGopalani and independent candidate Abdul Shakoor are in the field.
- NA-240: There will be a tough election battle between PPP Senator SaleemMandviwala and MQM Pakistan’s Arshad Abdullah Wahra.
- NA 241: A tight contest is expected between MQM Pakistan’s Farooq Sattar, PPP’s Mirza Akhtar Baig and PTI-backed independent candidate Khurram Sher Zaman.
- NA 242: Mustafa Kamal of MQM Pakistan, QadirMandukhel of PPP and Ghulam Shoaib of Muslim League-N will face each other on 8th Fab.
- NA 243: PPP’s Abdul Qadir Patel, Muslim League (N)’s Akhtar Hussain Jadoon and MQM Pakistan’s Humayun Sultan are in the race.
- NA-244: Farooq Sattar of MQM Pakistan, Irfan Ahmed of Jamaat-e-Islami and Abdul Bari of PPP are in competition with each other.
- NA-245: A tough contest is expected between Syed Hafeezuddin of MQM Pakistan and Mohammad Ishaq Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami in this seat.
- NA 246: A tight contest is expected between MQM Pakistan’s AminulHaq and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman.
- NA 247: The battle of Election will be between MQM Pakistan’s Khawaja Izharul Hasan, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Muneem Zafar, TLP’s Mohammad Farooq and independent candidate Syed Abbas Hasnain.
- NA 248: MQM Pakistan’s convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Mohammad Farooq and independent candidate Syed Abbas Hasnain are in the field.
- NA 249: Babar Khan and independent candidate Arsalan Khalid, Ahmed Salim Siddiqui of MQM Pakistan, Mian Muslim Parvez of Jamaat-e-Islami and independent candidate Aziz Ali Khan will compete.
- NA-250: A tough contest is expected between MQM Pakistan’s Farhan Chishti, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeem ur Rahman, independent candidate Aziz Ali Khan and Mohammad RiazHaider.
