In the 2024 elections, a total of 1,315 women are contesting in various general and reserved seats. According to the collected documents, the estimated total financial value of the assets of female candidates is more than 20 billion rupees. Among them, 220 women candidates own assets worth crores of rupees.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif is among the wealthiest women participating in the electoral race. She owns assets, including 1,500 acres of land, gold, cash, and shares in various companies, with a total value of 850 million rupees. Most of Maryam Nawaz’s assets have been inherited from her father, Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Hina Rabbani Khar of the Pakistan People’s Party is the second wealthiest female candidate, with assets valued at 520 million rupees. Yasmeen Rashid of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is the third wealthiest candidate, possessing assets worth 50 crore rupees.
Faryal Talpur of the Pakistan Peoples Party holds the fourth position with assets totaling 430 million rupees, while Hina Hameed of the same party is the fifth wealthiest female candidate with assets amounting to 410 million rupees. Nazhat Sadiq of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) holds the sixth position with assets worth 240 million rupees.
Furthermore, the ticket holder of the same party, Tahmina Daultana, is the seventh wealthiest female candidate with assets totaling 200 million rupees. Dr. Fahmida Mirza of the Grand Democratic Alliance is the eighth wealthiest with assets amounting to 180 million rupees. Zubeida Jalal of the Balochistan Awami Party ranks ninth with assets valued at 110 million rupees. Dr. Nafisa Shah of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secures the tenth position with assets totaling 120 million rupees.
According to statistics, out of 1,315 women candidates, 120 women also run their own businesses. However, 157 women are not included in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) tax net.
