Alizey Khan, the founder of Ruhil Foundation, was recently honored with the prestigious Diana Legacy Award, making her the first woman from Pakistan to receive this distinction. At a ceremony in London on Thursday, March 14th, she was presented with the award by Prince William himself.
Aged 26, Alizey’s remarkable contributions in social action and humanitarian efforts earned her the highest recognition bestowed upon young individuals. The Diana Legacy Awards, held every two years, spotlight the achievements of 20 young leaders globally.
Established in commemoration of Diana, the late Princess of Wales, the Diana Award marks its 25th anniversary, reflecting Diana’s belief in the potential of young people to effect positive change in the world. Endorsed by her sons, The Prince of Wales and Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, the award is a testament to Diana’s enduring legacy.
Alizey’s selection for this honor was made by a distinguished independent panel chaired by Baroness Doreen Lawrence, who had the challenging task of choosing 20 recipients from a pool of outstanding individuals recognized with The Diana Award in 2022 or 2023.
Alizey’s initiatives through the Ruhil Foundation focus on alleviating food insecurity by distributing ration bags and cooked meals to those in need. She also extends support for weddings and conducts hygiene drives in underprivileged areas. Additionally, Alizey is dedicated to providing education to the children of sex workers and is actively involved in fundraising for orphanages in Lahore.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she played a vital role by providing ration bags to flood-affected communities in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, showcasing her unwavering commitment to humanitarian causes.
