An unidentified group set-off an explosive device at the entrance of Syed Yasir Shah’s home in Kohat on March 21. Shah work as a district correspondent for The News International and Geo.

Following the explosion the unknown assailants opened fire at the house with automatic weapons. Law enforcement officials and security personnel immediately responded to the incident and conducted a search operation in the vicinity.

As per The News International, the individuals present in the house remained unharmed; however, the front portion and the main gate suffered partial damage during the incident. Syed Yasir Shah has been employed as a journalist with The Jang Group since 2007 and has been targeted with threatening phone calls and letters from unidentified militants on several occasions.

On March 23, the Counter-Terrorism Department Police initiated an investigation and registered a case regarding the attack on the house, with the motive still unclear. The case has been filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act against the unidentified assailants. The counterterrorism and intelligence agencies have launched an operation to arrest the culprits.
