Government taking steps for women empowerment: Begum Samina Arif Alvi

KARACHI: Begum Samina Arif Alvi has said that the Government is taking steps to empower women, improve working conditions, guarding against harassment and giving equal opportunities to both men and women.

She said that women empowerment was pivotal for Pakistan’s bright economic future. She gave these remarks while addressing a seminar on women empowerment as Chief guest today at Karachi.

She said that equal and fundamental rights of women were enshrined in Pakistan’s Constitution and the Government was striving for the protection and promotion of women Rights in all spheres of life. She observed that Pakistan had made significant progress to protect women’s rights by making laws and creating awareness among society.

She emphasised that empowering women was a collective responsibility of society and individuals needed to play their role in this regard. She urged the businesses to become more welcoming of women and by making the work environment more flexible.

Begum Samina Arif Alvi was briefed about the achievements of Rotary Crown Club Karachi where she also distributed achievement awards to the members of the club.
