“Combating Corruption and Misuse of Public Funds”

Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Development in National Assembly, Mian Abdus Sattar MNA has said that country needs reforms in tax collection, 60 percent
members of the national assembly have not National Tax Number (NTN). Pakistan Army was biggest organized political force in the country which rules direct and indirectly.
This he said as a chief guest in the last day of 5 days practical training workshop of students of media sciences and new comers in the media at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) Islamabad. The training workshop on the topic of combating corruption was organized by Women Media Center (WMC) Pakistan, with the collaboration of National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and SZABIST. During five days training workshop practical training of electronic media was given to students of different educational institutions and new journalists.
Mian Abdu Sattar in his speech further said that electronic and print media needs reforms. National interest should not overlook.
“Eighteen and nineteen amendments were passed and now we are preparing for 20th amendment in the constitution but still two big parties could not reach any conclusion regarding making law about accountability which country needs because black money was biggest second economy of the country.” Sattar added.
He said that political became new entertainers on TV channels talk shows. Media in Pakistan need maturity and sincerity with the people of the country and democracy.
Director SZABIST Islamabad, Syed Asad Hussain in his speech has said that
industry and academia need to work together, required result could not come through theory only. He said their in need to become practical in educational institutions. He said that men and women have to work together especially in the filed of media.
Executive Director WMC Pakistan Fouzia Shaheen in her speech said that its was a narrative that only politicians are corrupt of reality is that bureaucracy and other institutions were more corrupt than politicians. But it doesn’t mean that corruption of politicians should overlook. She said that there is need honest self accountability and sincerity to the masses of the country.
She said that WMC welcome SZABIST to collaborate in practical trainings of students of media sciences and new comers in field of media especially female.
In the last certificates were distributed among participants of 5 days media practical tanning.
Earlier, MoU was signed between WMC and SZABIST Islamabad to work together in the filed of media. Director SZABIST Islamabad Syed Asad Hussain and Executive Director WMC Pakistan have signed MoU. Miss Isamat Waseem was also present on the occasion.
